Legalized Unrestricted Abortion and Post-Birth Murder?

It is shocking to see our culture rally to defend a mother who admitted to killing her three small children. Now, this week, an Illinois mother has allegedly killed her 2-year-old son—a tragedy mirroring the horrific Lindsay Clancy case. Should we be surprised? We live in a culture that treats the slaughter of the innocent as a sacrament of women's so-called "rights." Abortion activists celebrate “shouting” their abortions, while Illinois and Massachusetts lawmakers give standing ovations to legislation that allows for the destruction of life until the moment of birth. When we normalize the killing of the preborn, we erode the sanctity of all life. Consider the growing reports of men slipping abortion drugs into the food or drink of pregnant women. We all agree that this is cold-blooded murder. Why? Because the law recognizes the value of the child when the mother wants that child. If the law can recognize a preborn baby as a victim of homicide in other contexts, why do we pretend that the intentional destruction of that same life by the mother is anything less? Justice requires consistency. Lindsay Clancy and the woman in Frankfort, Illinois should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for the murder of their children. If we refuse to call murder what it is, we invite more of it. As Solomon warned in Ecclesiastes 8:11, “Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.” The callous circus of sympathy for these cases is the direct result of our society’s refusal to punish evil. We are now calling evil good, and good evil. (Isaiah 5:20) The fact that Illinois is approaching 100,000 abortions annually—facilitated by state lawmakers who have dismantled every parental notice law and abortion regulation—is the fruit of a state that has rejected God’s moral law. We are reaping what we have sown.
